Barons of Exchequer 〈英〉财税法庭法官 指自12世纪到19世纪末司法改革时这一历史时期内对财税法庭6名法官的称呼,其中一位为首席法官,这些称谓与其它法庭的法官相对应。司法改革后,当时财税法庭的几名法官成为了高等法院法官,他们死后再无此称谓。由于在13世纪的大部分期间,财税法庭的司法机构与行政机构并没有明确的分离,因此,从1234年起,财税法庭法官一词被用来指身兼司法与行政职能的一批特定官员。在14世纪,他们从财政署〔Exchequer〕及普通法法庭的着名开业律师中选任,财税法庭法官长期被认为低于普通法法庭法官,他们不能与巡回法官一起出庭,也不是高级律师公会的会员,其地位次于高级律师,也不能与其他法官一起被召集到议会。直到1579年,财税法庭法官才取得与其他法官相同的地位。从那以后,他们从高级律师中任命,并可从事巡回审判。
